The University of Manitoba Human Resource Association (UMHRA) is an I.H. Asper School of Business student group committed to providing students who are interested in a career in Human Resource Management with networking and other opportunities to aid in the transition from university to career. We strive to:

• Create awareness of the HR profession and the current developments in the HR field
• Establish a connection between students, business and HR Professionals to create networking opportunities
• Provide a platform for social interaction and support for HR Management students

Hello all new and returning Asper students!

Human Resource Management is a growing area in business and is progressively transforming from a functional role to a more strategic role. For those of you interested in majoring in HR or are at all interested in the field, we strongly encourage you to become a member of UMHRA so that you can be immersed in the current development and importance of HR!

UMHRA provides networking opportunities with your peers (and future colleagues!), and with the HR business community via monthly meetings throughout the year and with a Wine & Cheese event which will be held on January 21, 2010. These events serve a multitude of purposes: supplementing knowledge gained in the classroom, providing practical insight into the HR field, and enhancing the relationship between the business community and students.

Along with access to monthly meetings and the Wine & Cheese, members will be granted a free membership with the Human Resource Management Association of Manitoba (HRMAM). This membership allows for further networking and developmental opportunities as well as a connection with the professional HR association in Manitoba. What better way to advance yourself in the field than to become part of a group of professionals?
